Yesterday, Microsoft shipped it’s first Iphone application; called Bing for mobile. According to the software giant, Bing for mobile helps you find local shops and restaurants, get turn-by-turn driving directions, see weather conditions, and even get aerial and road maps, all optimized for your mobile phone.

Have you ever imagined to connect two computers using a USB cable?; well I had, way before Bluetooth became available and wireless network connections where on the horizon, I tried; and without  success, to connect two computers using a simple USB cable, I even suggested my brother to create a USB network solution. Soon, I realized that just it was not going to happen, connecting them that way wont help me get any file transferred; So we had to relay on our RS232 network connection.

But since then things have change a lot,  and now that idea have become a reality (somehow): iTwin, is a device that allows to connect two computers via  USB connected device (on each computer) and share files, so far, this just looks like any other sharing solution out there; the interesting twist of this device is that it uses the internet connection as a funnel to deliver the information between the two computers, in other words; it’s like the two computer where connected by an invisible (actually Internet) USB cable. According to iTwin designers web site users have the same experience as if the were using a flash drive, no software installation, no logins or passwords but still the solution provides a secure connection between computers and if one of the devices is removed the connection is stoped.

While CFLs and LEDs may now be fighting it out to replace traditional incandescent light bulbs, Seattle-based Vu1 Corporation says it has developed a new type of bulb that’s better than either of ‘em, and could hit the market by mid-2010. Making use of ESL technology (or electron stimulated luminescence), the new bulbs seem to be the cure-all many folks have been looking for, with them promising to provide a more natural light than CFLs or LEDs, turn on as quickly as an incandescent bulb, and eliminate some of the pesky problems associated with CFLs (like their use of mercury). According to the company, they’ll also be about as efficient as CFLs, although they will cost about $20 a pop to begin with, which Vu1 says is comparable to a dimmable CFL reflector bulb. Some bold claims to be sure.

The cosmos never ceases to amaze us with its sheer size and splendor. Astronomers have finally found a place outside our solar system where there’s a firm place to stand — if only it weren’t so broiling hot.

“We basically live on a rock ourselves,” said co-discoverer Artie Hatzes, director of the Thuringer observatory in Germany. “It’s as close to something like the Earth that we’ve found so far. It’s just a little too close to its sun.” It’s hot, they’re calling it the lava planet,” Hatzes said.

The planet is called Corot-7b. It was first discovered earlier this year. European scientists then watched it dozens of times to measure its density to prove that it is rocky like Earth. It’s in our general neighborhood, circling a star in the winter sky about 500 light-years away. Each light-year is about 6 trillion miles.
